Multiplying Good runs its flagship youth program, Students in Action (SIA), in Chicago’s Thornton Township High Schools (District 205). All three high schools that comprise District 205 take part in the programming, participating as one SIA team in the training and annual competition.

In 2017/2018, sixteen students served on the SIA leadership team, which is also the Student Board of Education in Thorntown Township. In total, 3,194 students (64%) of the student body were engaged in service this year, serving a collective 83,498.5 hours.

The team planned and implemented a range of service projects that were reflective of community need and grew out of the passions and interests of the young people involved. Projects included: A food drive, resulting in 4,000 lbs. of food donated to Catholic Charities , A toy drive, resulting in the donation of 300 toys to parents who couldn’t otherwise afford to purchase a Christmas present for their children.

A March Against Violence attended by over 600 people, including the major state representatives. And, an Illinois State Scholar banquet where students who demonstrate excellence in academics and community service were recognized for their dedication with Jefferson Awards.
